General conditions are incalculable

Those involved did not make it easy for themselves. Preparations for event planning, with different concepts, have been going on for months. On Monday evening, however, all shareholders were in agreement. The German Open Championships 2021 have to be canceled. The hygiene regulations associated with the pandemic, the vaccination situation and the travel restrictions that still apply do not allow the event to be successful.

Wilfried Scheible, CEO of the GOC, on the rejection: “We care deeply about the health of all volunteers, spectators and participants. Therefore, with a heavy heart, we decided to cancel the GOC 2021. We thank everyone who is committed to the GOC and hope to see you all next year from 9 till the 13th of August for the 34th German Open Championships."
