A STAR RISES OVER ITALY

  22.08.2025
WDSF Open Latin Rising Stars

One of the biggest competitions on the third day was the Rising Stars Latin. 151 couples from 33 countries had already completed the first round the day before. After four more rounds on Thursday, the six finalists were determined, ready to thrill the audience in the Beethoven Hall with top-class performances late in the evening.

At the top, the familiar Italian-German rivalry continued – a matchup that had already defined the final rounds of the European and World Championships in U21 Latin in 2024. Both of those competitions were won by Luigi La Rocca and Marika Maria Scerra (Italy), ahead of Demid Anisimov and Giuliana Domingues da Silva (Germany). The Italians seem to be passionate “Rising Stars” – this year alone, they have already won five international competitions in this category. The couple from Bremen, on the other hand, currently leads the Rising Stars world ranking.

Zian Wang and Xiaoqian Wie from China have already competed in two major competitions in Germany this year – the U21 World Championship in Bremen (7th place) and a World Ranking competition in Pforzheim. Their third place at the GOC marks another step forward in their international success.

Final Results:

  1. Luigi La Rocca / Marika Maria Scerra, Italy (5)
  2. Demid Anisimov / Giuliana Domingues da Silva, Grün-Gold-Club Bremen (11)
  3. Zian Wang / Xiaoqian Wie, China (14)
  4. Zhen Yang / Nan Zhang, China (20)
