A team match full of energy and international diversity
The international team match of the WDSF World Cup Youth opened with a thank you to the audience, and since this competition is all about fun and friendship (‘Competition for Fun and International Friendship’), gifts were exchanged again this year.
Five nations – Republic of Moldova, Türkiye, the Czech Republic, Spain and Germany – fielded teams of two standard and two Latin couples each. The event kicked off with creative intros on freely chosen themes: Republic of Moldova kicked things off with ‘Pulp Fiction’ and Türkiye followed with ‘Every Way That I Can’ – their own ESC country entry from 2003 – followed by the ‘Czechleaders’, the ‘Spanish Sun’ and the German version of ‘Dirty Dancing – Time of My Life’ – including a children's contribution and distributed flags.
This was followed by the classical part, where the disciplines alternated – standard and Latin in direct succession. The dances performed were the slow waltz, samba, tango, cha cha cha, quickstep and jive. This mix ensured a dynamic atmosphere and kept the tension high until the end.
The atmosphere in the hall was correspondingly exuberant: the audience cheered loudly for each nation, always keen to outdo the others in volume.
In the end, victory went to Republic of Moldova, followed by Germany and Spain. The Czech Republic and Türkiye took the remaining places.
