DOUBLE SUCCESS IN THE JUNIORS
In the Junior I competition, there were only three DTV couples among 57. In the semifinals Ivan Smekalkin and Ivana Bondareva were eagerly competing and reached the final round together with five other couples from five countries. There, the Pforzheimers created good conditions for the overall victory with the second place in the standard section, which was achieved with corresponding results in the Latin dances. The second place was won by the Romanian national champions in the combination, Justin-Teodor Homiuc/Maya-Maria Anton. Stefan Mantu/Emiliana Procopciuc followed with some distance on the third place. These two have danced many standard and latin competitions since the GOC 2022, but none in the combination.
Strongly occupied was the competition of the Juniors II over Ten Dances. Five finalists of the last World Championships (June 2023) were competing, four of them reached the GOC final. The two vacant places were occupied by two more DTV couples, who at least relegated the World Championship fifth to the sixth place. At the top, the World Champions Yigit Bayraktar/Lukrecija Kuraite left no doubt that they also wanted to win the GOC in their first Junior II year, which they achieved convincingly by winning nine dances. On the following two medal places landed the silver and bronze winners of the World Championships - but in reverse order. GOC runners-up were Jegors Prokins/Polina Karimova ahead of Marius-Tiberiu Padurean/Adelina Stanciu. With 70 couples from 19 countries, the competition was better attended than last year (62 couples), and highly successful with the three DTV couples in the final - last year there was no German couple in the results until 13th place!
