Everything new

After last year's winners and runners-up were eliminated in the preliminary round, Giovanni Boccu/Federica Gualina from Italy rose to the top of the field this year. They only conceded the slow waltz to their compatriots and runners-up Piero Lassi/Sylvia. The third medal also went to Italy with Duilio Castelli/Paola Patrizi. Johann-Georg and Brigitte Salten were the best German couple to reach the final round, which they finished in sixth place. 
Compared to last year, there were 14 more couples on the dance floor, with a total of 24 participants.
