RESULT UNDECIDED UNTIL THE FINAL DANCE
It doesn’t get more exciting than this – the decision for victory in the U21 Standard final came down to the very last dance. Fortunately, the couples didn’t know just how close the scores really were.
German champions Dmytrii Forostianov and Helene Novalee Tilgert, who had not made it past the semifinal at the U21 European Championships in April, delivered a thrilling “duel” with European champions Batu Sandiraz and Nehir Cam. After four dances, both couples were tied with six points each. The final outcome was significantly influenced by the European vice-champions Pijus Palskys and Anna Berzina: they won the last dance in the skating system ahead of Forostianov/Tilgert, who increased their total to eight points with a second-place finish. Sandiraz/Cam placed third in the Quickstep, bringing their total to nine points and securing second place overall.
A total of 49 couples from 18 countries took to the floor that afternoon. The decision was made in the fourth round (final) in front of an enthusiastic audience in the Beethoven Hall.
