World Cup finalists among themselves

The international Senior III Latin field featured couples who had just danced their way to the World Championships in Vienna a mere two months earlier. Six high-performing couples emerged from the top-class line-up to qualify for the final round. The GOC gold medal was won by Petri and Ulla Jarvinen from Finland, who had just been crowned vice world champions in Austria. Second and third places were reversed compared to the World Championships: Frantisek Beres/Miriam Beresova finished ahead of their Austrian rivals at the GOC and were awarded GOC silver, while the bronze medal went to Herbert and Beatrix Schoepf from Austria.
