Children win first gold for Turkey

Berk Yildiz/Aylin Gasanova provided a premiere: For the first time in the history of the GOC there was a gold medal for Turkey. Berk Yildiz/Aylin Gasanova won all four dances in the Children's I Latin final and left 18 couples behind them with their victory. The other two podium places went to Romania to Cristian Ciflicli Gliga/Nicola Ioana Antal ahead of Stefan Oprea/Sofia Jebeleanu. Romania and Moldova were each represented with five couples in the entire field and with two couples in the final. In total, children from nine nations had turned up; Germany as the host country was not represented. (Ulrike Sander-Reis)
