Shortly before noon the WDSF Open Senior III standard competition started with a field of 230 couples. Almost twelve hours later the winners were clear.

Bernd Farwick/Petra Voosholz went into the competition as favorites and didn't fail their numerous fans, who celebrated their win with standing ovations. The silver medal went to the fourth-placed of the world championship and last year's sixth at the GOC Nikolay Palagichev/Irina Krutova from Russia. Place three was reached by Italians Aldo Mazzi/Roberta Pisacane, who were ninth at the world championship of Senior III.
