With 83 couples the Junior I Latin competition was approximately the size of last year.

Kirill Kurbatov/Alexandra Revel-Muroz had already caught attention in their first competition and won gold. The second specimen followed at the Junior I Latin competition, where the young Russians won every dance in the final with the exception of Samba, where they were second. At the award ceremony two more Russian flags were pulled up for their fellow countrymen Savely Dobriakov/Varavara Rudentsova and Nikita Pavlov/Taisia Malakhova on places two and three.
