Around half of the field of the Senior IV Standard competition consisted of couples from Germany. Unfortunately, their proportion declined rapidly during the competition.

From the semi-final on the foreign couples were amongst themselves. Among them were seven of eight Italian couples with a star, four of them participants of the world championship 2017. It was almost the case that the final was like the one at the world championship, which had consisted of only Italian couples. Akiyoshi and Yuko Okada from Japan thwarted this. They were the only finalists without a star. The winner's rostrum was an all Italian affair. World champions Luciano Ceruti/Rosa Nuccia Cappello were on top of the field, they were followed by Nicholas Nero/Anna Maria Arzenton on second and Vittorio Guida/Fortuna Canta on third place.
