Standing ovations for Evaldas Sodeika/Ieva Zukauskaite

One couple tore the audience at Stuttgart’s Liederhalle from their seats: the winner oft he Grand Slam Standard competition.

220 couples were taking part in the Grand Slam Standard competition in Stuttgart. The competition already began on Thursday, but only one Russian couple without a star managed to reach the quarterfinal. Tomas Fainsil/Violetta Posmetnaya were the best German couple on place eight.

At the final, which lasted an hour and had three solo dances (Waltz, Tango and Quickstep) only the winning couple enjoyed the frenetic applause of the standing audience – once during their last solo dance and then again at the award ceremony. Evaldas Sodeika/Ieva Zukauskaite stayed ture to their role as a favorite and won with a clear distance to the rest of the field. Second place went to Francesco Galuppo/Debora Pacini from Italy, Evgeny Moshenin/Dana Spitsyna won a close “Russian-duel” and therefore became third.
